DCC Submits Comments on Kantishna-Wonder Lake Area Plan

The National Park Service has been gathering input on a range of proposals for the area around Kantishna and Wonder Lake in the heart of Denali. Inexplicably, the agency’s outreach documents have avoided many of the most pressing issues in this area and have instead focused on what seems to be an ill-advised effort to create new destination-level activities and infrastructure at the end of the park road. While DCC is supportive of some of the impetus for the plan — addressing social trails and consolidating administrative infrastructure — NPS has gone overboard.
