DCC Supports NPS Proposal to Protect Denali Wolves

The Alaska Board of Game will meet in Fairbanks March 6-14, 2020, to consider a variety of proposed policy changes for the Interior and Eastern Arctic region. Written comments were due February 21, and DCC provided short responses to a number of region-wide proposals as well as several that are of local concern, including changes to allow more motorized hunting access in the Wood and Yanert River Controlled Use Areas. However most of DCC’s comment letter focused on reasons why we support the NPS proposal to seasonally close the Wolf Townships and nearby areas to protect wolves that den inside the park.
