DCC requests Stampede wolf hunting closure this season

In early August, the Denali Citizens Council asked the Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Sam Cotten, to close wolf hunting and hunting under a trapping license this season. Our letter was meant to coincide with the opening of wolf hunting season, which currently extends from August 10 to April 15th.

In it, we referred to our long history of using the system to seek more proactive management of the Wolf Townships and greater protection for wolves whose numbers are low in the entire subunit 20C.

Our letter also contained the request that Cotten visit the Denali Borough and join us for our next Annual Meeting. We seek a collaborative solution to address conservation in the Wolf Townships.
