DCC vs. DNR Argued in State Superior Court

DCC members and attorney Peter Van Tuyn outside of the courtroom after oral arguments

Today, July 2, the case of Denali Citizens Council versus the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, was argued in front of State Superior Court judge Andrew Guidi in a courtroom packed with DCC members and supporters. DCC is challenging that state’s Final Best Interest Finding for a Gas-Only Exploration License in the Healy Basin.

Attorney Peter Van Tuyn argued DCC’s case, with attorneys from both the State of Alaska and Usibelli Coal Mine defending the Final Finding. The presiding judge indicated that it would be several weeks before he provided a decision in the case.

Thank you to everyone who attended the hearing and to those who have contributed toward our legal expenses!
