DCC submits comments on proposed hydraulic fracturing regulations

On April 1st, DCC’s attorneys, Bessenyey and Van Tuyn, submitted a letter to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) on draft regulations that the commission has proposed for hydraulic fracturing.  The development of these regulations constitutes the first time that the state of Alaska has addressed the topic of fracturing as a stand-alone issue, and DCC’s comments commended AOGCC for this important effort. At the same time our comments pointed out areas where the proposed regulations are not adequately protective, and suggested changes to improve them.

A hearing will be conducted by the commission this Thursday, during which public comment will be accepted on the proposed regulations.  The hearing will be held at the Anchorage Hilton Hotel, from 9 AM until Noon, and may be extended to hear comment from people present before 9:30 AM who had not yet had the opportunity to comment.  To view our written comment letter, open the link below.
