DCC Meets with Denali Leadership Team
On the evening of September 21, 2021, the DCC Board hosted a meeting with Denali Leadership team members including Superintendent Don Striker, Deputy Superintendent Brooke Merrell, head of research and resources Dave Schirokauer, and external affairs chief Miriam Valentine. The meeting started with a breaking announcement that Superintendent Striker is leaving Denali for a superintendency at North Cascades Complex, which include North Cascades National Park and adjacent national recreation areas. The meeting then launched into an extensive discussion of the Pretty Rocks landslide and potential fixes and other park road issues followed by briefer discussions of Kantishna/Wonder Lake planning, the 2020 National Preserves wildlife rule, and more.
