Join the Conversation: DCC Hosts Alaska Wildlife Alliance to Talk Wolf Buffer and Board of Game

The Alaska Board of Game meets in Fairbanks March 15-24, and once again there is a proposal for a buffer to protect wolves under consideration. The proposed closure would cover the Wolf Townships and areas east of the park’s northern thumb. The Board of Game has been hostile to these proposals since the original “wolf buffer” expired in 2010. This year’s Proposal 186 is brought by the National Park Service.

Prior to this round, DCC felt it might be useful to get some statewide perspective on the Board of Game. We are hosting Nicole Schmitt, Executive Director of the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, to discuss the Alliance’s efforts to hold the State of Alaska and the Alaska Board of Game accountable for their mandate to conserve wildlife. She’ll help us develop strategies to support the NPS proposal.

Our discussion will take place via Zoom at 4:30pm on Thursday, February 15. You must register to get the link that will allow you into the meeting. Please join us!
